ABOUT TOWN ARTICLE - NYSSA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
Living here in the Nyssa community, we feel a deep appreciation for the good
people and the rich history of this area. This is a wonderful place to raise a
family! However, there is little we can offer our youth in the way of activity
and play outside of the schools. We believe that by having safe,
family-friendly parks and recreation areas, we are not only offering fun to our
children, but are also providing them with opportunity for learning and
developing confidence, creativity, and happier, healthier families.
As members of the Nyssa Parks and Recreation Committee, we are devoted to
strengthening our families, and therefore, our community, by creating safe and
fun parks. Fortunately, this requires all the help we can get from people like
you. We all have the privilege of building our community. We understand that
times are tough, but money is not the only necessity to a strong community. You
may have experience with welding, painting, or wood-working, or have connections
with those who do. Perhaps you know where to find quality materials for a
decent price. Better yet, you may even know who would be willing to donate
those materials! Maybe you can’t give any of those things, but you know how to
turn over a shovel or how to persuade others to help out, too. We need everyone
to pitch in however they can.
We are asking you to do just that! We have included a Wish List that our
committee has put together of things we believe will benefit all three parks in
Nyssa. One example is that we want to put in a concrete sidewalk in South Park.
For about $200.00, you could sponsor one 4’ x 8’ sidewalk square. When we have
enough sponsors and can pour the concrete, wouldn’t it be fun to come down and
personalize your square that you sponsored? Can you see your kids or grandkids
leaving their handprints in the concrete as a visual reminder to everyone who
goes to the park that you care about your community?
We know that with your help, we can accomplish great things for our
community. Please consider today how you can contribute to the development of
Nyssa’s parks.
Sincerely,
The Nyssa Parks and Recreation Committee
